ActionScript
ActionScript is the programming language that is used in Adobe Flash. There is a set of rules and syntax just like with other programming languages. ActionScript mainly deals with controlling Movie Clips, Buttons, Text, Sounds and Video within Flash. ActionScript is similar to JavaScript and fluency in one helps in the other.
ActionScript is created in the Actions Panel and can be attached to Movie Clips, Buttons and Frames in the Timeline. It can also be saved as external '.as' files. ActionScript looks like this:
