Step One: Setting Up the Document

1. Open a New Flash Document: File > New (Ctrl N)
2. If the General Tab is not selected, select it:
3. Select Flash Document:
4. Click: OK

Now it is time to set the Documents size and color.

5. Go to: Modify > Document (Ctrl J)
6. Set the size to: 450 x 300 px
7. Set the background color to: Black

Tip: Occasionally setting a documents background color to black can make it more difficult to build a Movie. This is because typing and drawing tools are often set to black as default and when you use them you can't see what you are doing. If this is a problem set your background color to an alternative like dark gray and re-set back to black when you are ready.
