Step Two: Linking the Sample Theme Library

The Sample Theme Library comes as a standard part of Flash but it does not open automatically when you start Flash.

1. Open the External Library Browser: File > Import > Open External Library (Ctrl Shift O)
   
   
2. Navigate to your Component FLA folder. Under normal installation this folder is located under:

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Language\Configuration\ComponentFLA

OR

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash MX 2004\Language\Configuration\ComponentFLA

3. Select: SampleTheme.fla
4. Click: Open

Note: A new External Library appears.

5. If your standard Library is closed, open it: Window > Library (Ctrl L)


The two Libraries: External Sample Theme and the Internal Library.

6. In the SampleTheme.fla library, navigate to: Flash UI Components 2 > Themes > MMDefault



7. To change the Theme of individual Components find the desired Component: CheckBox Assets



8. Drag it to the: Main Movie Library
   
9. In the main Movie Library, open up this new folder and find CheckBox Asset > CheckBoxAssets
10. Right Click (Mac: Ctrl Click) and select: Linkage...



You will then see the Linkage Properties:

11. In the Linkage dialog box check: Export in First Frame



12. Click: OK

    Note: The Components will still look like they have the Halo Theme while you are editing your Movie. The Sample Theme is only applied when you Test your Movie and when it is exported as a Flash swf file.

13. Test your Movie: Control > Test Movie (Ctrl Enter)
