Sample Themes come with Flash 8/MX04 and are a very easy to use. They enable you to change the look of the Flash Components to look more like the default Windows style as opposed to the newer Halo Effect. Normally when you drag a Component from the Library onto the Stage, Flash will automatically apply the Halo Theme to your Component.

As you can see the Sample Theme that has more of the Windows 2000 look and feel. Below is an example file set up to let you view real-time how the Button, CheckBox, ComboBox, List, RadioButton, and TextArea Components behave when their style properties are changed for the Sample Theme:

Note: One of the major differences between the latest versions of Flash is the number of Components each provides. With each new version of Flash Macromedia and Adobe expand the list of available Components. Here's a breakdown of the Components in each version (or equivalent in Flash MX).
